Customs officers at Mangaluru Worldwide Airport within the metropolis confiscated gold price Rs 5.34 lakh that was being illegally transported by concealing it within the buttons of a burkha, sources mentioned on Saturday.
Based on the Customs officers, the accused lady arrived from Dubai to the town on April 15 night.
In whole, 100 gm of gold of 24 carat purity was smuggled within the type of small ring-shaped round break up washer kind objects hid contained in the press buttons of the burkha.
Additional investigation is being carried out by the Customs authorities, the sources mentioned.
