No less than eight individuals have been arrested after a pretend name centre was raided by Kolkata Police within the metropolis’s Backyard Attain space, an officer stated.

Performing on a tip-off, police raided a home within the Backyard Attain space late on Wednesday night time and busted a name centre which was working with none legitimate licence, the officer stated on Thursday.

The proprietor of the decision centre managed to flee.

Police has seized a minimum of 13 laptops, eight cellphones, 4 hard-disks and Rs 19 lakh, he stated.

“We’re investigating the matter… It appears they have been gathering cash by duping individuals beneath the pretext of mending laptop methods. They have been conserving the cash deposited in a checking account after which transferring them to another as per requirement,” the officer added.
