An area court docket on Monday remanded P C Singh, the bishop of the Church of North India’s (CNI) Jabalpur diocese in Madhya Pradesh, within the custody of the Financial Offences Wing (EOW) for 4 days in a dishonest case.
EOW’s Superintendent of Police Devendra Singh Rajput advised PTI that P C Singh was produced earlier than the court docket after his arrest.
“The competent court docket despatched P C Singh within the custody of the EOW for 4 days,” he stated.
P C Singh was arrested earlier within the day. A case was registered in opposition to P C Singh final month after a criticism alleged monetary misconduct by him as the academic society chairman.
A preliminary investigation had revealed that Rs 2.70 crore collected as college students’ charges by the society’s numerous establishments between 2004-05 and 2011-12 was allegedly transferred to non secular establishments, misused, and spent by the bishop for private wants, an EOW official earlier stated.
Final Thursday, the EOW claimed to have recovered round Rs 1.60 crore in Indian and foreign currency echange from P C Singh’s residence in Jabalpur throughout searches.
