By India Today Web Desk: Tottenham coach Antonio Conte has said he has great admiration for Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of their clash in the Premier League. Conte’s men are set to lock horns with Manchester United on October 20.

Speaking to the press, Conte said he has great admiration for the 5-time Ballon d’Or winner, but hopes the Portuguese stays calm during their encounter.

“I have great admiration for Cristiano, for his professionalism, but I hope tomorrow he stays calm (smiles), not like last season. He scored three goals and we lost 3-2, but we lost against him, not against United last season. I remember very well, we played a really good game and he solved the situation, alone,” said Conte.

The Italian manager also showered praise on fellow manager Erik Ten Hag, who took over at Carrington this season, saying he’s trying to bring his ideas onto the pitch.

“He has taken a great job for United, because United is one of the best teams in the world. He is trying to bring his ideas onto the pitch, I think also the club backed him in the transfer market. Like other managers, like other coaches, he needs time to work and to try to improve his team,” Conte added.

Conte also confirmed that Richarlison’s injury will not force him out of the World Cup.

“I can confirm that the player is not risking to not play the World Cup, absolutely. He has an injury but it is not a serious injury. I hope he can play games for us before the World Cup,” said Conte.

The 53-year-old stressed that he is not focused on his contract extension with the club and is only aiming to win their next three games.

“We have to play against United away, we have to play against Newcastle – yesterday they played an amazing game at Old Trafford – and then we have a big appointment, a big match against Sporting Lisbon. I think that now we have to be focused and have all our concentration on these three games. Then I have to speak with the club, we’ll speak with the club about the situation and we’ll find the best solution for everybody,” Conte added.

Tottenham Hotspur will travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United on October 20, before hosting Newcastle United in the Premier League on October 23.
